Sydney Harbour Bridge
Port Jackson, also called Sydney Harbour, is the natural harbour of Sydney, New South Wales, in Australia. The harbour, is the largest natural harbour in the world,it is an inlet of the Tasman Sea. The Harbour is 12 miles long with a total area of 21 square miles, which is one of the world’s finest natural harbours and the principal port of New South Wales, Australia. It has minimum and maximum depths of 30 feet and 155 feet at low water, and its irregular foreshores extend more than 150 miles, affording extensive docking facilities. Many recreational events are based on or around the harbour itself particularly the Sydney New Years eve celebrations. The land around Port Jackson was taken at the time of the European invasion and colonisation by various tribes. The first recorded European discovery of Sydney Harbour, was by Lieutenant James Cook in 1770, Cook named the inlet after Sir George Jackson.
